Since taking office, Mayor Eric Garcetti has focused on ways to revitalize L.A.'s key economic infrastructure and market our city to investors and travelers from around the world.
Today, the LA Daily News reported that this work to improve operations at the Port of Los Angeles, modernize LAX and showcase LA globally is paying off in a big way.
Three sectors of the Los Angeles-area economy sizzled last year, with tourism, air travel and cargo volume at the ports all hitting record levels, officials said Wednesday.
Tourism led the way, with records set across a number of categories, according to the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board.
“We couldn’t be in a better place,” said Mayor Eric Garcetti, as he announced the numbers at Universal Studios Hollywood. “This is a wonderful place to come. This is L.A.’s moment. Los Angeles is welcoming more visitors to our city and passengers through our airport than ever before.”
