UFCW Endorses Garcetti

Eric Garcetti has earned the endorsement of the 30,000-strong United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 770, which is best known for representing local grocery store employees. 

"I'm running for Mayor to move L.A. forward by refocusing City Hall on job creation and problem solving," Garcetti said. "I am proud UFCW Local 770 backs my agenda to strengthen our city's economy and neighborhoods."

UFCW Local 770 represents workers in retail food, meat, drug stores, packinghouses, food processing plants, pharmacies, laboratories, as well as barbers and beauticians.

Garcetti is the grandson of two UFCW members -- a meatpacker and a barber.

Garcetti has won a broad spectrum of endorsements in Los Angeles, including those of United Teachers Los Angeles; Teamsters Joint Council 42; the Communications Workers of America, Southern California Council; Ironworkers Local 433; Reinforcing Ironworkers Local 416 and the Engineers and Architects Association. He has also won the endorsement of the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley; the Stonewall Democratic Club; the San Pedro Democratic Club; the Pacific Palisades Democratic Club; the Northeast Democratic Club; the Southern California Chapter of Americans for Democratic Action; the North Valley Democratic Club; the Latino Democrats of the San Fernando Valley; the Los Angeles County Young Democrats; the Sierra Club; the California League of Conservation Voters; the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters; the California National Organization of Women (NOW); the Mexican-American Bar Association and the Latino Coalition of Los Angeles - PAC.
