Support the Path to Citizenship

In support of President Obama's comprehensive immigration reform, the Los Angeles City Council today passed legislation that would help immigrants cut through red tape on their path to citizenship.

Los Angeles should act quickly on legislation proposed by Eric Garcetti and passed by the City Council to establish a City of Los Angeles Office of Immigrant Affairs and to make L.A. the first city in the nation to step forward with a dedicated initiative to guide our immigrant residents through President Obama's new pathway to legal status and citizenship.

The Office of Immigrant Affairs will help local immigrants cut through red tape that can hold them back on the path to citizenship. Helping deserving immigrants earn legal status will build stronger L.A. communities and a stronger L.A. economy.
